Job Summary:

Crew Chief responsibilities include but are not limited to the following.

  • Establish horizontal and vertical survey control.

  • Collect field data for topographic, boundary, route / highway, utility, pipeline etc….surveys.

  • Provide construction stakeout.

  • Work in collaboration with Project Managers, Project Engineers and Field Crew members in order to complete project assignments.

  • Perform field computations, complete daily field reports, field notes & sketches.

  • Supervise / Quality Control manager of field procedures and data gathering.

Required Skills

  • Must possess a valid VA driving license and maintain a good driving record.

  • Must be able to obtain Federal Security Clearance

  • Must be able to pass drug screening

  • Must be able to travel when requested

  • Must be able to work as a team member and independently when requested

Preferred Skills:

  • Familiarity with TDS and Carlson a plus.

  • Familiarity with VDOT and local jurisdictions a plus.

  • Familiarity with GIS software and data collection a plus.

Required Experience

  • Must possess 2+ years of responsible charge survey field experience.

  • Must have experience using laptops, robotic total stations, data collectors, levels, GPS receivers, etc.

Working Conditions:

Work is performed in the field 90% of the time. Ability to extensively perform bending, kneeling, standing, shoveling, and lifting and carrying objects weighing up to 25 lbs as needed. Work may be conducted outside in heat/cold, wet/humid, and dry/arid conditions.

Work is performed within a general office environment 10% of the time. Office work is generally sedentary in nature, but may require occasional standing and walking. Lighting and temperature are adequate and there are no hazardous or unpleasant conditions caused by noise, dust, etc. within the office environment.
