The Registered Nurse, under the direction of the Manager, is responsible for providing quality patient care which includes knowledge of physical, psychological, social, cultural, spiritual, and developmental factors of the patients served, is family centered and based on the philosophy of Bon Secours DePaul Medical Center.
Graduate of an accredited school of professional nursing.
Currently licensed to practice nursing in the Commonwealth of Virginia.
CPR certification. Must be proficient in command of the English language.
Demonstrates familiarity with medical equipment, patient charts, documentation, Windows based computer systems, etc.
Able to safely administer medications and provide safe care in a stressful environment. Able to delegate responsibilities to non- 6. licensed personnel.
Successful completion of approved hospital based Neuroscience nursing course within 3 months of employment.
ACLS preferred, but not required.
NIHSS certification required within 3 months of employment and annual maintenance of certification required.
Eight hours of stroke-based or stroke-related education required within first year of employment and a maintenance of eight hours of stroke-based or stroke-related education required annually.
An essential function of this position is to comply with BSHSI Policy (SYS.HR.NUR.001) which requires, as a condition of employment, that all registered nurses with diplomas or associate degrees who apply and are hired after May 1, 2015 complete a Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) degree within five years of start date.
