Norfolk Southern Manager Statistical Forecast Analysis in Norfolk, Virginia
Development and maintenance of statistical models used in the forecasting process. Analysis and understanding of market drivers.
Forecast model development – Work with key stakeholders and outside parties to develop a Forecast Model that accurately predicts NS markets
Maintain Forecast Model while analyzing and adjusting individual model components for the ever changing environment
Review historical accuracy to determine model changes and explain results
Provide detailed changes between budgeted and actual results for upper management
Assist in developing projections and outlook for both Marketing and Finance
Structure and run fairly frequent regression analyses including significance tests to understand causal relationships impacting NS business. Prepare statistical analyses for Marketing and Finance to assist in interpretation of outcomes and trends.
Monthly meetings with marketing teams to ensure model accuracy and changes to market share
Coordination with Manager MR&F systems to ensure model changes are systematically incorporated
Works with Senior Management to determine opportunities to change / update model based on current trends
Although reporting to the Director Forecast at MR&F and overwhelmingly devoted to Forecast Model matters, the incumbent will be expected to assist the Manager Strategic Market Analysis in the preparation, analysis, interpretation and presentation of annual Customer Survey.
