BAE Systems Corporate Communications Intern - Spring / Summer in Norfolk, Virginia

Job Description

The Corporate Communications Intern will be assigned with the company s corporate communications group and will focus on providing feature/news writing and photography support. The internship can begin in the spring or summer 2018. The position reports to the company s Communications Director and will be located in Norfolk, Va.

Day-to-day activities include:

  • Work with communications leadership to conduct corporate communications projects

  • Provide photography support of events in Norfolk, Va., to include shooting, selecting and posting images upon direction (camera equipment will be supplied)

  • Write feature and news stories for use in printed and digital products

  • Observe Ship Repair media relations for an understanding of corporate communications activities

  • Assist with the generation and management of official social media content

  • Learn about the maritime and defense industries

Required Skills and Education

  • Must currently be enrolled in a graduate or undergraduate degree program at an accredited college or university

  • Must be currently pursuing a degree in the disciplines of communications, journalism, or a related field

  • Must have successfully completed three years of study; achieving at least junior classmen status.

  • Must have at least a 3.0 GPA

Preferred Skills and Education

  • Good interpersonal skills

  • Strong feature and news writing skills

  • Strong photography skills

  • Detail oriented

  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite, especially Word, PowerPoint and Vizio
